Why We Charge for Hearing Tests (When the Big Chains Offer Them Free)

A free test still has to be paid for

Nothing is truly free. When a hearing test costs nothing, the cost is usually covered by what comes after it, which is the hearing aid sale. That isn't a criticism of anyone. It's simply how that model works.

We work differently. We charge a small, fair fee for the assessment itself. So the appointment is about your hearing, not about a sale.

What your £45 covers

Your assessment takes 90 minutes. That's deliberate. It gives us time to:

• look in your ears and check for wax or anything else that could affect your results
• talk about your hearing at home, at work and out and about
• carry out a full set of hearing tests
• explain your results in plain English and answer every question you have

Nobody is watching the clock.

The assessment was £95. It's now £45. That's £50 off, and the offer has no end date.

Impartial advice. No sales pressure.

Because the fee covers our time, you get honest advice. Sometimes that advice is "your hearing is fine". Sometimes it's that wax is the problem. Sometimes it's that hearing aids would help.

Whatever it is, we tell you straight. The decision is yours, and you're welcome to go away and think about it.

Independent and family-owned

Altrincham Hearing Centre is run by a husband-and-wife team of HCPC-registered audiologists. We're independent, so we're not tied to one brand. We mainly fit Starkey, Oticon, Phonak and Widex, and we can supply hearing aids from any manufacturer.

That means we recommend what suits your hearing and your life. If you do choose hearing aids with us, five years of aftercare is included.
