Hearing Consultations

A detailed hearing assessment can help us understand what’s behind your hearing loss and how best to move forwards. It’s natural that you may feel a little apprehensive before your assessment but, our friendly team and comfortable clinic will put you immediately at ease. Here’s what you can expect:

The Consultation

Your appointment will last 60-90 minutes.

After you’re settled into our welcoming consultation room with a cup of tea or coffee, we’ll get started by asking a few questions about your hearing and overall wellbeing.

We’ll build up a picture of where you may be having difficulty hearing (such as when watching TV or if you have trouble following a conversion when there is background noise). This is an important first step as it means we can devise a care plan which is entirely tailored to your needs. As a wholly independent hearing centre, we only recommend products we believe will genuinely improve your day-to-day quality of life.

The Assessment

The hearing assessment is a series of tests which allow us to understand more about your level of hearing loss and ear health. Your audiologist will perform each test, explaining the process as we go.

  • Examination of the ear and auditory canal, including video otoscopy
  • Full audiometric hearing assessment including speech audiometry
Results & Recommendation

Once all tests are completed, we’ll discuss your results with you. We’ll fully explain what each result means and provide impartial advice on the most appropriate hearing system for your personal needs.

If, as a result of your hearing test, we recommend wearing a hearing aid, we’ll be able to show you appropriate devices for a range of budgets. As we are entirely independent, we stock a wide selection of devices from a number of highly regarded brands. All of our products come with a free trial and 60-day money-back guarantee.

Signs you should book a hearing test

If you recognise any of the following situations, we recommend that you book a hearing assessment:

  • It often seems that other people are mumbling or not speaking clearly.
  • You sometimes have difficulty in understanding or following a conversation when there is any type of background noise.
  • You feel that the TV isn’t as clear and turn the volume up or use subtitles.
  • You have difficulty hearing when speaking on the telephone.
  • You frequently need to ask people to repeat themselves.

Call us on 0161 989 1288 to book your hearing assessment or send us a message online. You are very welcome to bring a family member or friend along with you on the day and we often have same day appointments available.
